For our partner, OrcaBio, Bakson is seeking a proactive AI Solutions Engineer to bridge the gap between cutting-edge biotechnology and artificial intelligence.
In this role, you will be the primary architect of our AI roadmap. From optimizing cell manufacturing workflows to accelerating drug discovery through predictive modeling, you will identify, build, and deploy the intelligent systems that will define the next generation of our therapies.
OrcaBio is a leading medical technology company dedicated to revolutionizing healthcare solutions by providing cutting-edge tools for improving patient care. They are committed to developing high-quality, reliable products that meet stringent regulatory standards in the medical field. By joining OrcaBio, you will be part of a mission-driven team working on technologies that have a direct, tangible impact on the future of medicine.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hands-on Implementation: Act as the lead engineer for initial Proofs of Concept (PoCs). You’ll be responsible for coding, training, and deploying models before scaling the team.
  • Create the Playbook: Institutionalize learnings into a reproducible agentic playbook: reference architectures, testing/QC patterns, guardrails, and handoffs that teams can reuse
  • Technology Selection: Evaluate and select the tech stack (LLMs, Machine Learning frameworks, Bio-informatics tools, and Cloud Infrastructure) that balances speed with data security.
  • Strategy & Roadmap: Define the “Where, Why, and How” of AI at Orca Bio. You will identify high-impact use cases across R&D, Clinical, and Tech Ops.
  • Business Partnership: Work closely with business users to translate challenges into technical requirements.
  • Data Governance: Establish the foundations for data hygiene, ensuring our biological datasets are “AI-ready” and compliant with GxP and healthcare regulations.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience: 5+ years in Data Science or AI, with at least 3 years in a Life Sciences or Biotech environment (Cell/Gene therapy preferred).
  • Fluency with core AI/ML concepts, modern AI toolsets, and software development lifecycles, with the ability to translate technical constraints into pragmatic business decisions.
  • Direct understanding of business workflows and scientific development or manufacturing contexts sufficient to translate practitioner problems into implementable AI requirements.
  • The “Startup” Mindset: Comfortable working with ambiguity and moving from “zero to one.” You aren’t afraid to clean data one hour and present to the Board the next.

WHO WE ARE?

Bakson Ltd is a software development company based in Belgrade. We are working with teams around the world and take pride on variety of projects we handle and technology we use.

HOW DO WE WORK?

Our workflow is inspired by Agile and Lean principles. We’re not devoted to Scrum or any other framework, but are trying to work in small batches, with fast feedback and very close interaction with product owners.

The emphasis in our team is on collaboration and mutual support – sharing project workflow with globally distributed teams, contributing code to core global services and applications, and encouraging cultural exchange between development groups. Ticketmaster encourages working from home, and the distributed nature of our teams requires us to have flexibility around working hours. We’re familiar with asynchronous and remote work. A Software Engineer in our company is a core writer of code, but also an inspirer and an exemplar to other developers…

Basically, what we care about is that you are a self-starter, happy to work with others, and prepared to adapt and do your best.

HOW TO APPLY?

We aim for our hiring process to be as collaborative and realistic as possible, so it’ll be focused on writing and reviewing code – both written by you and by others. We want you to feel like you’d be comfortable working with us, and we also want to feel the same way, so you’ll meet quite a few of the team, and interact with them in as close to a life-like way as possible. This is a two-way street – we’re keen for you to like us as much as the other way around. If you’d like get started, you can apply by pressing the “apply” button on this webpage or by sending a CV or an introductory email to [email protected]
